HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) – Required for daily on-the-job risk assessments

Fall Protection Implementation / Basic Fall Arrest – Required for correct use of harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points

Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate – preferred by many employers

Formal scaffolding erection training/certification – MERSETA/CETA/SAQA or equivalent is preferred

2 years minimum experience – For erectors in industrial or petrochemical sectors

Scaffold hand experience – Experience as a scaffold hand is an advantage
