Artisan Electrician

Description

To maintain, install, and commission the electrical components of machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility, with a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 & N2 certificate.
  • Completed Trade Test - Certified Competent as Electrician with a formal learnership programme.
  • At least 1 year's experience in a related role.
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Must be able to do standby and overtime.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Knowledge of electrical components and machinery.
  • Understanding of MHSA regulations and legal requirements.
  • Ability to complete job cards and descriptions of work and spares used.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and conduct Safety meetings.
  • Conduct and participate in risk assessments.
  • Allocate tasks to subordinates.
  • Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required.
  • Ensure that material, spares, and equipment are available as required.
  • Provide proper and adequate on-the-job training and coaching to subordinates.
  • Comply with environmental requirements.
  • Exercise judgment regarding the replacement of components.
  • Maintain a high quality of work.
  • Record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format.
  • Perform work to required standards and specifications.

  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Analyse maintenance history to identify recurring failure patterns.
  • Ensure capacity planning is done on a daily basis, including preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in new equipment specifications.
  • Assist with any other additional ad-hoc engineering tasks/projects as required.
  • Participate in failure analysis techniques for cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure preventive actions are implemented to ensure effective maintenance programs.
  • Liaise with Supervisors to confirm all technical manuals and documents are up to date.
  • Participate in the development of RCM-based task lists for all key equipment.
