English HL Teacher (FET Phase)

Description
To teach English Home Language as per the Curro curriculum for the FET phase, actively teaching, transferring knowledge, developing skills, and fostering positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.
Requirements
- BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education.
- An honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) is advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an FET phase teacher.
- Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
- SACE registration.
- Clear criminal record.
- Proven facilitation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and planning skills.
- Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to teach English Home Language at FET level.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes.
- Set up workbooks and measure academic improvement and achievement.
- Set up, implement, monitor, and adjust the term plan as necessary.
- Create baseline assessments to assess knowledge levels and make recommendations for subject choices/combinations.
- Provide differentiated learning materials to accommodate barriers to learning.
- Plan and manage the classroom, including the assessment roster.
- Design and set up the classroom for optimal performance, establishing disciplinary rules.
- Communicate effectively with learners and parents.
- Set up and manage assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including moderation, revision, and supervision.
- Plan and manage extramural activities and outings.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring support and extra lessons.
