The South African Police Service (SAPS) has officially opened applications for the 2026 police recruit intake. Thousands of positions are available across all nine provinces for South African citizens who meet the entry requirements.

WHO CAN APPLY?

To apply for the SAPS 2026 intake, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be medically and physically fit
  • Have a valid South African ID document

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be submitted online through the SAPS e-Recruitment portal at www.saps.gov.za. You will need to create an account and upload the following documents:

  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Certified copy of your Matric certificate
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Any other supporting documents

CLOSING DATE
The closing date for applications is 30 April 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.

TRAINING
Successful candidates will undergo a 2-year training programme at a SAPS training college. A monthly stipend is provided during training.
