Junior Underwriter
To assess loan applications while providing real-time support to customers and internal teams, requiring strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate underwriting decisions effectively over the phone and via email.
- Matric / Matric Equivalent (NQF 4).
- Minimum of 1 year customer service experience in a contact centre.
- Admin/Backoffice experience.
- Proven record as a Client Service Representative.
- 50% in Maths.
- Excellent communication skills â verbal and written.
- Previous mortgage experience (advantageous).
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work shifts in KMD.
- Clear Credit and Criminal Record.
- Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail.
- Review and assess loan applications in a high-volume call centre environment.
- Analyze financial documents, credit reports, and loan eligibility criteria.
- Provide real-time guidance to Loan Analysts and Processors on underwriting decisions.
- Communicate underwriting requirements, conditions, and decisions clearly to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within CRM.
- Call third-party companies on behalf of the customer to request relevant documents.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve application issues and improve processing times.
- Assess risk and make sound underwriting determinations.
- Handle inquiries from loan officers and processors.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and be available when needed.
- Continuously adapt to new underwriting policies, compliance updates, and industry changes.
