Area Manager

The Electoral Commission is seeking an Area Manager to assist with logistical and administrative duties towards the 2026 Local Government Elections in the Johannesburg Inner City area. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating election activities, managing resources, and ensuring the smooth execution of electoral processes within their designated area. This is a fixed-term contract position tied to the election period.

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate (minimum)
• Previous experience in elections, logistics, or administrative management (advantageous)
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to work long and irregular hours including weekends
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transport (advantageous)
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• South African citizenship
• Clear criminal record

• Assist with logistical coordination for the 2026 Local Government Elections within the designated area
• Perform administrative duties related to election preparation and execution
• Manage and coordinate area resources including staff and materials
• Ensure compliance with Electoral Commission policies and procedures
• Monitor and report on election activities within the area
• Liaise with stakeholders including political parties, observers, and community members
• Assist with training and supervision of temporary election staff
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all election-related activities
• Resolve logistical issues and challenges as they arise
• Ensure the smooth execution of voting processes on election day
