Description

To maintain the reliability and efficiency of maintenance processes by ensuring that instrumentation and control systems operate effectively, including installation, inspection, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation systems.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical.
  • Higher National qualification in Instrumentation & Control / Instrument Mechanician (NQF Level 5).
  • PLC & SCADA Programming certification.
  • Valid SA Driver's Licence.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control installations and maintenance within the mining industry.
  • Expertise in problem-solving methodologies.
  • 3 years of maintenance experience on Siemens PLC and AVEVA System Platform automation systems.
  • Understanding of operational processes pertinent to the role.
  • Experience in operational drawing/design, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Familiarity with documentation, sign-off, and approval procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, including legislative, statutory, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections, and observations, addressing issues to demonstrate safety leadership.
  • Promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and a controlled risk environment.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols when working with instrumentation systems.
  • Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain various instrumentation and control systems (sensors, transmitters, controllers, final control elements).
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with instrumentation systems using diagnostic tools.
  • Calibrate measurement devices to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform repairs on malfunctioning instrumentation equipment (replacing faulty components, repairing circuits, reprogramming controllers).
  • Program and configure control systems to achieve specific process control objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of instrument calibrations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide detailed reports on the status of instrumentation systems and recommend upgrades or improvements.
