Shiftboss

To ensure the health and safety of the team, ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to while extracting coal to meet production targets, with legal responsibility for all activities under control regarding safety and effective cost management.

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Valid blasting certificate for fiery mines.
• Continuous Miner Certificate.
• 3+ years' experience as a faceboss or 1 year with a mining degree.
• Knowledge of flame proofing and gas.
• Solid knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and keeping up to date with any changes.
• 3 months acting experience as a shiftboss or previous appointment as a shiftboss.
• Safety and Risk Management Course.
• Conflict management skills.
• Decision-making skills.
• Problem-solving skills.

• Take legal responsibility for all activities under control regarding safety and effective cost management.
• Oversee processes relating to coal production, contractor management, road building, blasting, pumping of water, ventilation, belt inspections, and Continuous Improvement.
• Ensure all Codes of Practice and Standard Operating Procedures are understood and adhered to.
• Plan, coordinate, and control activities effectively.
• Supervise team members in a mining environment.
• Manage safety and risk mitigation on a daily basis.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Monitor and manage production targets to meet operational goals.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Manage contractor performance and compliance on site.
• Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement within the department.
